India Development Service (IDS) is a nonprofit, non-political, and secular organization supporting economic and social development in India .
Disaster, Relief, Reconstruction, and Recovery
Given India’s geographical size and population, annual disasters are expected to occur. The type of disaster, its duration, and location, on the other hand, is unpredictable. We know that the poor and disenfranchised individuals of any society are the most vulnerable. In a disaster, a crucial step toward recovery is ensuring that our aid is quickly and effectively delivered to those in India who desperately need it.
IDS’s long-standing relationships with Indian NGOs enable a quick-response mechanism. Working through WWForum we were able to effectively help to coastal villages in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu rebuild from the tsunami. After the Gujarat earthquake and Orissa cyclone, we also supported reconstruction projects
WWForum members that survied the Tsunami.
